Affordable Full-Size Bed Frame for Room Rentals: A Budget-Friendly Setup for Hosts
If you are setting up a room rental, Airbnb room, furnished bedroom, or mid-term rental space, one of the first things you will need is a bed. But not just any bed. You need something that is affordable, easy to assemble, sturdy enough for guests, and the right size for the room.
In this room rental setup, I put together a full-size bed frame that I purchased from Amazon. I actually bought four of these bed frames during the holiday season around Black Friday because I knew I wanted to furnish multiple rooms for rental income. One thing I recommend if you are furnishing multiple rooms is to watch for sales. I purchased these bed frames around Black Friday, and that helped me save money.
If you already know you are going to need multiple items, it can be worth waiting for a holiday sale. Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Target, and other big retailers often run specials during Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and other holiday weekends.
For room rental hosts, those savings add up.
If you are buying one bed frame, the savings may not feel like a big deal. But if you are buying four bed frames, four mattresses, four sets of sheets, four mattress protectors, and other room essentials, every discount matters.
When you are creating an income-producing space, you have to manage your startup costs. The goal is not to spend the most money. The goal is to create a comfortable, safe, and functional room that can help you earn income.
In my case, I believe the bed frames were around $50 to $60 each when I purchased them. Prices can change, but that was a good deal for what I needed.
Can You Assemble This Bed Frame by Yourself?
The instructions recommended having two people assemble the bed frame. Realistically, another set of hands would have helped. There were moments where it would have been easier if someone else was holding one side while I lined things up.
But I put the bed frame together by myself.
Sometimes waiting on other people can slow the process down. If you are trying to get a room finished, waiting for help can turn a simple task into a delay. So I decided to go ahead and get started.
Was it a little awkward at times? Yes.
Was it impossible? No.
If you give yourself time, patience, and grace, it is definitely something you can get through. You may have to adjust the pieces a few times, hold things in place creatively, or take your time lining up the screws, but it can be done.
That is something I want other room rental hosts to understand. You do not always need everything to be perfect before you start. Sometimes you just need to begin with what you have and figure it out as you go.
If you have someone available to help, use the help. But if you are doing it alone, do not let that stop you.
What Tools Do You Need?
One of the good things about this bed frame is that it comes with most of what you need in the box. The frame includes the screws, nuts, bolts, and an Allen wrench.
Technically, you do not need a drill.
However, I did use my Ryobi drill because I was putting together multiple bed frames. If I only had to assemble one bed frame for a guest room, child's room, or personal bedroom, I probably could have used the included Allen wrench and been fine.
But because I had four bed frames to put together, using a drill made the process easier and faster.
The main extra item I needed was a sharp knife or box cutter. You will need something to open the box, cut through the tape, and remove the zip ties or packaging that keeps everything secured.

Using a Drill for Furniture Assembly
If you decide to use a drill, you will also need the right drill bit. I used a Ryobi screwdriver bit set so I could find the bit that fit the screws and bolts that came with the bed frame.
You do want to be careful when using a drill on furniture. Do not overtighten the screws too quickly. It is better to go slow and make sure everything is lined up correctly before fully tightening everything down.
For this bed frame, the drill helped because there were several screws to secure. When you are doing one bed frame, it may not feel like a big deal. But when you are doing multiple bed frames, a drill can save your hands and save time.
Again, the bed frame does come with what you need, so this is not required. It is just a convenience tool.
Pay Attention to the Instructions
The instructions for this bed frame were pretty straightforward, but you do need to pay attention to the different screws and bolts.
Not every screw is the same size. Some pieces require washers or different bolts, and some do not. Before you start putting everything together, it helps to lay the parts out and match them to the instructions.
This can prevent frustration later.
When you are assembling furniture, it is easy to think, "I can figure this out," and skip over the details. But taking a few extra minutes to read the instructions can save you from having to take pieces apart and redo them.
